How to Care for Silk, Chiffon & Net Outfits

Your favourite formal outfit is an investment — and with the right care, it can look just as beautiful at its tenth event as it did at its first. Here is how to look after the delicate fabrics you love.

Silk & Sheesha Silk

• Dry clean whenever possible, especially for embellished or embroidered pieces.
• If hand washing, use cold water and a mild detergent. Never wring or twist.
• Iron on the reverse side on a low setting, or use a pressing cloth.
• Store away from direct sunlight to prevent fading.

Chiffon & Crinkle Chiffon

• Hand wash gently in cold water, or choose dry cleaning for worked pieces.
• Roll in a towel to remove excess water, then dry flat in the shade.
• Crinkle chiffon should not be ironed flat — let it dry naturally to keep its texture.

Net & Embellished Fabrics

• Always dry clean outfits with heavy embroidery, gota, sequins or stones.
• Store folded in a breathable cotton bag, with tissue paper between layers.
• Avoid spraying perfume directly onto embellishments.

General Storage Tips

• Keep formal outfits in a cool, dry wardrobe.
• Air your outfits after wearing and before storing.
• Refold occasionally along different lines to avoid permanent creases.
